Stephen is an Associate Director of Cor Cordis and is based in the Brisbane Office.


Stephen has over nine years of restructuring experience in Australia and overseas in both the private and public sectors.

Stephen specialises in managing deliverables for formal and informal assignments on behalf of major banking clients, private equity funds and distressed or insolvent entities. Stephen has been working with distressed entities through company side engagements and on behalf of some of Australia’s largest financial institutions.

Recently, Stephen spent 16 months on secondment to a big four bank working in its asset management team managing an impaired loan portfolio. In this role Stephen was tasked with implementing turnaround, restructuring and recovery strategies, assessments and approval of new lending and also the review, analysis and reporting of significant loan losses.

In 2011 Stephen was part of a global restructuring team based in the UAE assigned to a three phase debt restructure of an international oil trader and property developer on behalf of a syndicate of over 30 European and Gulf lenders.


Stephen’s areas of expertise are:

  • Management of independent business reviews of underperforming entities and formulation of strategies and recommendations for major lenders to mitigate risk and loss.
  • Managing financial analytics including, identifying underperformance drivers, reviewing financial forecasts and reports, stress testing and scenario modelling and preparation of integrated forecasts.
  • Development of turnaround, restructuring and performance improvement strategies for large and SME companies.
  • Working capital analysis and assisting distressed entities source alternative capital and lending.
  • Management of formal insolvency and restructuring appointments.
  • Developing and managing stake holder management plans on behalf of distressed companies.
