Barry is a Partner at Cor Cordis and is based in the Melbourne Office.


Experience:

With over 20 years corporate restructuring experience, Barry has advised a diverse range of stakeholders including financiers, company boards, directors, creditors and investors on a broad range of restructuring assignments including:

  • conducting independent business reviews
  • implementing turnaround and workout strategies
  • debt restructures
  • formal insolvency assignments

Barry has a strong focus on small to mid-sized restructuring and formal recovery assignments, having acted on numerous matters across a wide range of industries.

In 2010, Barry was seconded to a major financial institution, to implement turnaround and workout strategies on a c$300m distressed SME loan portfolio.

Barry has also completed a number of large / complex restructuring assignments, including:

  • an independent business review of a large retail group on behalf of a banking syndicate with debt of c$100m
  • the liquidation of Gunns Ltd, a listed integrated forestry business and MIS promoter, with over 220,000 hectares of MIS plantations under management, over 36,000 grower investors, and Syndicated debt of c$340m
  • the liquidation of Willmott Forests Ltd, a listed MIS promoter and forestry management business with over 56,000 hectares of forestry plantations under management, over 6,000 grower investors and syndicated debt of c$120m
  • an investigation into allegations of misleading and deceptive conduct and breaches of directors’ duties of a listed entity following a c$122m shareholder class action
